There’s a moment every year when I can feel fall coming.

🍂 WEAR IT: My Cozy Fall Wardrobe

1. Buttery-Soft Leggings

Let’s begin with the unofficial work-from-home uniform.

Leggings.

I practically live in them once cooler weather arrives.

But I’ve learned there is a huge difference between leggings and good leggings.

I want a pair that’s buttery soft, stretchy without constantly sliding down, comfortable around my waist, and thick enough that I can answer the door or run to the store without having to rethink my life choices.

For fall, black will always be my staple, but I’m also loving chocolate brown, burgundy, deep plum, dusty rose, and mauve.

What I look for:

There are few things I love more than the first chilly morning when I can finally pull out an oversized sweatshirt.

I want mine roomy, soft, and long enough to wear with leggings.

And if it happens to be pink?

Even better.

For Fall 2026, I’m drawn to washed pink, mauve, oatmeal, cream, chocolate brown, and those faded vintage colors that already look like you’ve owned them forever.

3. Another Throw Blanket I Definitely Don’t Need

Here’s the thing.

I already have throw blankets.

A lot of throw blankets.

Apparently my brain does not consider this relevant information when I encounter an exceptionally soft blanket in a store.

I will touch it.

I will stand there rubbing the corner between my fingers.

And I will immediately begin thinking about where it could go in my house.

For fall, I especially love blush pink, dusty rose, cream, taupe, and warm neutral blankets.

My perfect throw blanket needs to be:

You know fall has officially arrived when the fuzzy socks come out.

Working from home means I can fully embrace cozy footwear, but at 45, I’ve also learned something:

My feet have opinions now.

Cute slippers aren’t enough. I want cushioning and support too.

For slippers, I look for a soft lining, cushioned footbed, non-slip sole, and enough structure that I can wear them around the house without feeling like I’m walking barefoot.

For fuzzy socks?

I’m still convinced it’s true.

I don’t completely redecorate my house every season.

Instead, I like changing smaller areas.

And naturally, my coffee area gets special treatment.

Who decided fall decor has to be orange?

Because I’d like a word.

I love traditional autumn colors, but I also love mixing them with pink.

I love fall scents.

But I have limits.

I don’t necessarily want my house smelling like someone set fire to a cinnamon broom.

I prefer warm, softer fragrances like:

🍁 Making Fall Feel Like Mine

The older I get, the more I realize my favorite things aren’t necessarily the biggest, newest, or most expensive things.
