Embracing Fall: A Season of Memories and Traditions

The many different shades of orange, yellow, and brown leaves scattered across the landscape create a beautiful scene. The cooler weather and crisp air signal that it’s time to pull out cozy sweaters, leggings, and boots. I love the smells of fall—from pumpkin spice candles to a turkey roasting in the oven.

I am also an October baby, so that makes me a little partial to fall.

Memories Made

As a child, Halloween was my favorite fall tradition. The many different shades of orange, yellow, and brown on the leaves and trees made everything feel magical. The cooler weather and crisp air meant it was time to bring out my comfy hoodies, leggings, and boots. I loved the smell of fall—from pumpkin spice candles to a turkey roasting in the oven.

Every year my younger brother and I would dress up as our favorite characters from that year’s movies and head out for candy. We’d start on one end of town and work our way through the neighborhoods, filling our bags with treats. Looking back, it wasn’t just about the candy—it was about the excitement, the laughter, and the memories we created together.

Not only do we get to experience Halloween, but fall also means Thanksgiving. The holiday is filled with family, friends, traditions, and food. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has always been one of my favorite traditions. Watching the giant balloons float through the streets while spending time with loved ones creates a sense of warmth that perfectly captures the season.

Even though I host Thanksgiving now as an adult, I still continue to make time to watch the parade. My bucket list consists of me attending this parade in person one day. It may sound simple, but because seeing this parade in person would make me the happiest person on earth, it remains one of my biggest goals.

Pumpkins, Pumpkin Spice, and Everything Nice

I can’t talk about fall without mentioning pumpkins. Pumpkins seem to be everywhere this time of year. They are in smells, on front porches, on our dinner tables, in our decorations, and even in our coffee. Pumpkin spice has become a staple of the season. Whether it’s a warm latte on a chilly morning or a scented candle filling the house with the aroma of cinnamon and nutmeg, pumpkin spice has become synonymous with fall.

Personally, I’m a fan of the flavors and traditions that come with the season. From pumpkin pies at family gatherings to carving pumpkins with loved ones, these simple activities help make fall feel special year after year.

Why Fall Feels Special

Fall has a way of slowing things down. The changing leaves remind us that transitions can be beautiful, while traditions like Halloween and Thanksgiving bring people together. Whether it’s gathering around a dinner table, taking a walk through colorful foliage, or enjoying a warm drink on a cool afternoon, fall encourages us to appreciate life’s simple pleasures.

For me, fall is more than just a season—it’s a collection of memories, traditions, and moments of gratitude that I look forward to every year.
